The contribution of the circular economy to saving virgin raw materials is a widely recognized principle, while its contribution to climate neutrality is not yet sufficiently valued. The quantification of this value and the possibility of using it within economic tools aimed at the energy transition is a fundamental step towards achieving European objectives. Maximizing the use of secondary materials, avoiding extraction and consumption of raw materials, is one of the pillars of circular economy and a focal point of competitiveness of European industrials system, in the framework of policies of circular economy and other related policies (critical and strategic materials and clean industrial deal). Nevertheless, circular material use rate at EU level is just 11,8% (2023 data).  At the same time, secondary materials performances on energy and CO2 content on their life cycle can be significantly lower compared to the ones of corresponding primary materials, for local secondary materials market. Proposed workshop aims at opening the discussion on how better energy and environmental performances of secondary materials can be exploited through tools and policies for booting secondary materials market and use.

A certificate of attendance will be available to participants upon request during the webinar.
